Dr. Victoria Zhou was born in Shanghai, China, raised in Toronto. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Waterloo, graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Science as well as a minor in Psychology. After college, she then received her Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts where she received practical training at the East Boston Neighbourhood Health Centre and Dorchester Community Health Center. At Special Population rotation, Dr. Zhou gained experience in working with patients with intellectual disability where she fitted specialty contact lenses and treated low vision. She also provided care to pediatric patients who has multiple disabilities at the Perkin School for the Blind. She wrapped up her practical at the United States Veterans Hospital in Bedford, Massachusetts, where she managed ocular diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetes, and foreign body removal.
Dr Zhou has successfully completed both the Canadian and American National Board Examinations and is certified in the use of therapeutic pharmaceutical agents. She practiced in Boston for one year before moving back to Toronto.
She has since specialized in myopia control for children, with a special interest in orthokeratology. She is passionate about slowing down the progression of myopia for children and improving their quality of life.
Dr. Zhou is an active member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and Eye Recommend network. She is committed to dedicate her time to increasing public awareness of the importance of eye care and improving the future of the profession.
WIth support of her family, Dr. Zhou decided to open her own clinic in the Cornell neighborhood in 2021 and hopes to serve the community by providing high-quality eye care for patients of all ages. She is fluent in English and Mandarin.
